This course is designed for children of all ages to learn basic first aid knowledge. In 2020 first aid will be on the curriculum of both primary and secondary schools and this course will fulfil the requirements.

The course is divided into several units the learners can do one or more of the units as required.

Course aim

The course provides learners with the knowledge and skills to provide basic first aid.

Course outcomes

  • Understand the role of the basic first aid.
  • Be able to assess an emergency situation safely.
  • Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is unresponsive and breathing normally.
  • Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is unresponsive and not breathing normally.
  • Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who has a foreign body airway obstruction.
  • Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding.
  • Understand how to provide first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock.
  • Understand how to administer first aid to a casualty with minor injuries including burns/scalds, minor cuts, grazes and bruising
